New Alumni Website
When it came to my attention in late 2006 that the St. Thomas Alumni Association was looking for someone to revive The Voice as the editor, I considered volunteering for the job. I didn't have many ideas at first, but I wanted to support the Alumni Association and especially to increase the involvement of younger alumni. As a member of the last graduating class of St. Thomas, I decided to volunteer to become the editor of The Voice
At a meeting with Mr. Craig Luetkemeyer, I proposed the establishment of a new website for the Alumni Association. With alumni becoming less able to keep in contact, without the institution of St. Thomas to keep alumni oriented properly, it wouldn't really be possible to begin with a print version of The Voice. We needed a way to keep up with the news and a way to communicate that is easy to update quickly, that is accessible by nearly everyone at most times, and where information can remain archived. Mr. Luetkemeyer had been thinking along similar lines, and the re-establishment of the St. Thomas Alumni Association website began.
After several minor obstacles--including Kenrick Seminary's email filter deciding to block email from the Alumni Association board!--the website was set up and new members continue to register. Things are beginning to take shape with this first online edition of The Voice. As old files are recovered and more members become aware of the website, more content will be added and the website will become more useful for checking the news and discussing upcoming events and other concerns.
The St. Thomas Alumni Association website is found at http://www.stasalumni.org. All alumni are encouraged to register for an account.
